SPITTING FLAMES AT #74MM! 2016 Goodwood Members Meeting
We take care of your fuel. After that, do with it as you will. Quicksilver Fuel Care.
What are the hallmark features of a certifiably badass historic racer? Fly-spattered, panel-beaten coachwork? An obnoxious roar? A stripped-out interior complete with contextually out-of-place modern racing seat? All of the above is great, but it’s not until you see, smell and hear these things in action that you come to grasp the full gravity of their awesomeness. Slithering about, creating an almighty racket, and a stink to boot.
Then comes… the fire. The kinds of flames these sorts of highly-strung period race engines emit from their straight-through exhaust systems could be mistaken for an etherial being materialising in our world from a higher plain. These things make you wonder how long a flame can come out of something before you can technically describe it as ‘on fire’.
Some such incendiary action occurred at the 74th Members’ Meeting, was caught on film and has been edited together into the handy video above. Bask in the heat and glory of the Brut Camaro as it belches out enormous portions of its fuel reserve. Watch as a Ford GT40 spins out of control on the grass at St Mary’s, and expresses its vexation with the situation through the medium of explosive exhaust hellfire. Watch in awe as the atmospheric composition of Dante’s Inferno springs forth from the back of a Lola T70. We think you’ll enjoy it. You can bet folding money we did
