Powroznik notches another Top 25 at Toledo Bend Elite
TOLEDO BEND ELITE, Many, Louisiana (May 12-15)
Many, Louisiana – The waters of Toledo Bend Reservoir in western Louisiana are legendary: Bassmaster Magazine tabbed Toledo Bend as the No. 1 bass fishery in the country in 2016, and this impoundment of the Sabine River has consistently produced some of the heaviest top-to-bottom tournament weights of the season whenever the Elite Series competes here.
Plus, for Q CREW Water Team member Jacob Powroznik, Toledo Bend is like a homecoming. Proz earned his first career Elite victory on Toledo Bend, in May of 2014.
“You could say that I was looking forward to Toledo Bend just a little bit,” Powroznik joked. “That’s just an amazing fishery in a really cool part of the country. Every time I’ve ever been down there, I felt like I was one of the locals. The fishery fits my style, and the people are awesome. I wish we’d fish there every year, two times a year.”
Powroznik eventually finished 22nd this year at Toledo Bend with 49 pounds, 13 ounces. good for Angler of the Year points, but disappointing for Proz.
“I’m not gonna lie, I’m not happy with 22nd,” Powroznik admitted. “I felt like I put myself in great position on Day 1 with 22 pounds, but I really didn’t do a good job of executing on my opportunities with bigger fish on Day 2 and Day 3.”
