Got Gremlins

Austin, Texas (April 22,2018)

Austin, Texas and Circuit of the Americas (COTA) hosted Round 2 of the MotoAmerica season.  It was an abbreviated race weekend for MotoAmerica as they shared the venue with MotoGP.  This stop is MotoGP’s only US appearance so it brings out the most rabid of US motorcycle race enthusiasts.  Due to the crammed venue, only MotoAmerica Superbikes race this weekend, so our Quicksilver Supersport racer Richie Escalante was able to take the weekend off.

As noted last week, the Quicksilver Lexin Hudson Racing team is being plagued with electronic gremlins on their new Yamaha.  Bobby’s times were a bit off but still respectable all things considered.  Mr. Fong placed 9th on the starting grid this weekend.

Saturday was a very grey day, both literally and figuratively.  It looked as though the rain was going to hold off for the Superbike race, but as luck would have it, the skies filled-in and a steady rain began just minutes before the race.  A wet and sloppy race ensued similar to the prior Saturday of racing.  With rain comes crashes, and they were 0’plenty,  but the Quicksilver Lexin Hudson bike remained upright which thankfully didn’t add insult to injury.  Bobby kept the bike intact and placed 9th.  It was time to refocus on summoning and slaying the demons lurking inside the little blue devil; Sunday would be a day of hope and change.

But, alas, Sunday came without being able to coax the beast from within.  The team was able to start the race but after 5 minutes into event, the bike was brought into the pits.

A voodoo doctor has been called.
