Daniels Takes Home First Bassmaster Elite Win

Mark Daniels Jr takes home his first Bassmaster Elite win from Lake Oahe.  Going into Championship Monday with a 6+ lb. lead, Daniels struggled Monday morning to get bites to keep his chance of winning the Berkley Bassmaster Elite at Lake Oahe presented by Abu Garcia.

Casey Ashley, former Bassmaster Classic Champion, was said on Bassmaster.com to be catching Daniels. However, when it was time to weigh in Daniels 13 lbs., 3-ounce limit was enough to keep the lead and take home the trophy. Daniels final weight was 69 lbs., 9 oz.

“This is a special place in South Dakota! Beautiful place, beautiful people and an awesome fishery, there is nothing you can complain about here,” Daniels said before getting emotional over his very first Elite Series win. “I have literally dedicated my life to this sport. And I never gave up. And let me say one thing, if anyone out there has something they love, pursue it. I’m living proof you can live your dream if you are willing to work for it.”
